Wes was raised on a family farm in New Vienna and attended Beckman Catholic High School. He received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Fitness Management with minors in Biology and Psychology from Wartburg College in 2011. While attending Wartburg College, Wes participated on the varsity football team. Wes then went to Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, to complete his Doctorate in Physical Therapy.

After graduation, Wes completed post-doctorate residency training in orthopedics at Mercer University and fellowship training in manual therapy from the University of Illinois at Chicago.

He went on to achieve a board-certification as an Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS), Sports Clinical Specialist (SCS), and finished a Fellowship of the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy (FAAOMPT). He is a contributing author of the third edition of Myofascial Pain and Dysfunction: The Trigger Point Manual. He is an adjunct faculty at Baylor University, Tufts University, and in Evidence in Motion's post-professional programs.
