Physical Therapy Solutions is a private practice outpatient physical therapy clinic in Dyersville, Iowa established in September 2003.  The Manchester location was added and opened in July 2011. 

Our practice consists of 4 licensed physical therapists, 2 licensed physical therapist assistants, and 3 office coordinators.  Our providers are certified in Astym and LSVT BIG, and our clinics are designated Petal Project certified, Blue Zones Project Worksite certified, and Little Free Library site locations.

Our staff continues to work hard to promote sense of purpose, engagement & education, community involvement, waste reduction, and well-being solutions to create a culture of health & wellness among our staff & presence in the community.  All of our staff complete ongoing continuing education to keep up with the newest research and bring the latest innovative physical therapy techniques to both of our clinics.

Jason Putz, PT - Physical Therapist

Jason was raised in Farley and attended Western Dubuque High School.  He received his Bachelor’s of Science Degree from Iowa State University with an emphasis on Health and Human Performance with a minor in Psychology and Health Studies in 1995.  While attending Iowa State University, Jason participated on the Iowa State football team.  There, he became a three-time letter winner and All-Big-Eight academic selection for playing defensive tackle from 1991-1995.  Jason then went to the University of Iowa to complete his Master’s of Physical Therapy.

After graduation from the University of Iowa Physical Therapy program, Jason enjoyed outpatient physical therapy work in Washington and Kalona, Iowa, where he was a staff physical therapist.  Jason gained experience in outpatient orthopedics, work safety, ergonomics, home health, and sports medicine.

Jason has been at Physical Therapy Solutions since opening in September of 2003 and continues to work in an outpatient setting for orthopedics, neurological patients, work safety/ergonomics, and sports medicine.  Jason uses a wide educational background of McKenzie treatment for treatment of pain from the spine, as well as Mulligan treatment to help mobilize the spine and joints.  He is also certified in Augmented Soft Tissue Mobilization (Astym) by Performance Dynamics for treatment of soft tissue injuries.  Chronic pain sufferers can receive relief with Jason's approach of therapeutic neuroscience pain education and graded motor imagery techniques for pain management.

Jason brings a broad knowledge of expertise in orthopedics/sports medicine, work safety/ergonomics, and chronic pain to the Dyersville area (Mondays & Fridays) and Manchester area (Tuesdays & Thursdays).  Jason has been practicing practicing physical therapy since 1999 and resides in Epworth with his wife Darcy of 21 years and their three children Grace, Ella, and Payton.

Ted Kruse, DPT, CSCS - Physical Therapist 

Ted was raised in Dyersville and attended Beckman Catholic High School.  He received his Bachelor’s of Science Degree from Iowa State University in Exercise Science with a minor in Biology in 2002.  He then studied at University of Iowa, where he graduated with his Doctor of Physical Therapy Degree in 2004.

After graduation, he was employed by Accelerated Rehabilitation Centers in Waukee, IA.  He spent two and a half years as a staff physical therapist and two years as the clinic manager.  The clinic focus was in outpatient orthopedics; which he gained experience in sports medicine, general orthopedics, and worker's compensation.  Ted is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association.  He likes to implement exercise and a strong manual therapy approach to rehabilitation with a background in McKenzie assessment and treatment of the spine, as well as Mulligan techniques for the spine and extremities.  He is also certified in Augmented Soft Tissue Mobilization (Astym) by Performance Dynamics for treatment of soft tissue injuries, as well as received his certification in LSVT BIG for the treatment of Parkinson's Disease and other movement disorders.

Ted has been practicing since 2005 and returned to the Dyersville community in 2009.  He and his wife Terese currently reside in Dyersville with their children Maria, Luke, Theo, and Micah.

Josiah Polito, DPT, CSCS - Physical Therapist

Josiah was raised in Monticello and attended Monticello High School.  He received his Bachelor’s of Arts Degree in Fitness Management with a minor in Biology from Wartburg College in 2007.  While at Wartburg, Josiah played football for several years.  After graduating, Josiah worked for a year as a rehabilitation technician at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa.  He then completed his Doctor of Physical Therapy Degree from Clarke University in 2011 and became a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association.  Josiah is certified in Augmented Soft Tissue Mobilization (Astym) by Performance Dynamics for treatment of soft tissue injuries, as well as received certification in LSVT BIG for the treatment of Parkinson's Disease and other movement disorders.

Josiah works in our Manchester clinic and lives in town with his wife Rachel and daughter Avery.

Rachel Polito, DPT, ATC, OCS - Physical Therapist

Rachel grew up outside of Baltimore, Maryland and received her Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training and Exercise Science from the University of Delaware in 2008 and earned her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Duke University in 2011.  Rachel has practiced outpatient physical therapy since earning her degree in both the hospital and private practice setting.  Rachel worked for 2 years at Allen Hospital in Waterloo, specializing in worker's compensation, industrial rehabilitation, and ergonomics; and then for over a year at Unified Therapy in Dubuque, specializing in the treatment of orthopedic conditions.  In 2014, she earned the designation as a Board Certified Orthopedic Specialist (OCS).  Rachel is also certified in the Astym system for soft tissue injuries and chronic tendinopathies.

Rachel has always had an interest in treating orthopedic conditions, but became interested in pursuing advanced education in women’s health after having her daughter.  Rachel has completed coursework through the APTA’s Section on Women’s Health and Herman & Wallace Pelvic Rehabilitation Institute for additional training in pelvic floor physical therapy including the treatment of urinary incontinence (including leaking and/or frequent urge to use the bathroom), pregnancy and postpartum conditions, pelvic pain conditions, and prolapse.

Rachel works in our Dyersville clinic and lives with her husband Josiah and daughter Avery in Manchester.

Shelly Deutmeyer, BS, PTA - Physical Therapist Assistant

Shelly was raised in Dyersville and attended Beckman Catholic High School.  She attended Cornell College for two years where she played volleyball and earned MVP and All-Conference honors.  She then went to Iowa State University where she graduated with a degree in Exercise & Sport Science and an emphasis in K-12 Physical Education in 1996.  Later, she went on to attend Kirkwood Community College and attained her Physical Therapist Assistant license in 2001.

For 5 years, Shelly worked at Progressive Rehabilitation Associates, LLC at their Rockwell Collins Rec Center location in Cedar Rapids, first as an Aide then later as a PT Assistant.  She gained experience in this outpatient orthopedic setting working with worker's compensation patients and many athletes.  The next two years were spent at Genesis Medical Center in Davenport doing rotations in both their hospital and outpatient clinics.  She then went to Health Enterprises for 8 years to work primarily as an outpatient orthopedic PT Assistant at many of the area hospitals, but mostly at Jones Regional Medical Center in Anamosa and Jackson County Regional Health Center in Maquoketa.  Working in small rural Iowa, she has a broad area of experience, especially with total joint replacements, balance training, athletics, and ergonomic assessments.  She is certified in Augmented Soft Tissue Mobilization (Astym) by Performance Dynamics for treatment of soft tissue injuries, as well as received certification in LSVT BIG for treatment with Parkinson's Disease and other movement disorders.

Shelly, her husband Troy and son Shawn, now live and farm just north of Dyersville.  In her spare time she enjoys reading, walking, gardening, volunteering at school, volleyball, golfing, and attending Shawn's sporting events.  She's also actively involved in the Beckman Booster Club, as well as coordinator for the Children's Liturgy program at St. Francis Xavier Basilica.

Michelle Connor, PTA - Physical Therapist Assistant

Michelle was raised in Manchester and attended West Delaware High School.  She then attended Kirkwood Community College and obtained her Physical Therapist Assistant License in 2014.  For a year and a half, Michelle worked at Millennium Therapy gaining experience in an array of settings from Outpatient, Skilled Nursing, and Home Health while assisting with multiple diagnoses.  Michelle is certified in Augmented Soft Tissue Mobilization (Astym) by Performance Dynamics for treatment of soft tissue injuries, as well as certified in LSVT BIG for treatment with Parkinson's Disease and other movement disorders.  Michelle resides in Manchester with her husband Pat, two dogs, and one cat and is excited to be working in Manchester and getting involved in the community.

Jill Heiderscheit - Office Manager

Jill was raised in La Porte City and attended Union High School.  She received her Medical Administrative Assistant Degree from NICC-Peosta in 1998.  She has worked at Physical Therapy Solutions since April of 2004.  Jill enjoys working with the wide variety of patients and seeing the progress and eventual completion of those patient's goals in physical therapy.

Jill and her husband Pat reside in Dyersville with their daughters Autumn and Emily.

Ashley Pins, BA - Patient Care/Wellness Coordinator

Ashley graduated from Starmont High School and then University of Northern Iowa where she received her Bachelor’s of Arts Degree in Health Promotion/Education and Public Health.  For the past 9 years, she has fulfilled roles in personal training, health education, corporate wellness, wellness coaching, and direct patient care.  Ashley also has her certifications as a WellCoaches Certified Health & Wellness Coach, NCHEC Certified Health Education Specialist, and ACSM Certified Personal Trainer. 

Ashley has a true passion for helping others accomplish their goals and also enjoys working with employers to design and implement customized worksite wellness initiatives, which ultimately leads to healthier employees.  Ashley assists with direct patient care and scheduling in our Manchester clinic, as well as coordinates Workplace Wellness Solutions--our own brand for worksite wellness programming to engage employees in creating a culture of health and wellness with their employer at their worksite.

Ashley lives with her husband Andy and son Weston on an acreage just north of town.  Other than chasing her 5-year-old son around, she enjoys volunteering in the community and school, serving as Vice President on the Manchester Area Chamber of Commerce Board, being active, and spending time with family and friends.

Barb Kluesner - Patient Care Coordinator

Barb is our newest member to the PTS team fulfilling the role of Patient Care Coordinator to assist Jill with patient care duties and scheduling in the Dyersville clinic.  Barb was raised on a farm in the Worthington area and attended Western Dubuque High School.  She received her Medical Transcription degree in 2010.  She enjoys meeting all the patients and seeing the progress they make while in physical therapy.

Barb and her husband Steve reside in Worthington with their 3 children William, Kathryn, and Wyatt.  In her spare time she enjoys reading, hockey, being outdoors, watching her children in their activities, and spending time with family and friends.
